Nowruz / Persian New Year Special Screening: Radiograph of a Family
Nowruz, also known as Persian New Year, is a holiday marking spring’s arrival. Observed for more than 3,000 years in Iran and by the Persian diaspora, Nowruz means “new day” in Farsi and is celebrated as the first day of the solar calendar year. To mark this special occasion, Queens Memory presents a community screening of “Radiograph of a Family,” an autobiographical film from Iranian filmmaker, Firouzeh Khosrovani. The program begins with a pre-recorded introduction from the filmmaker. After the screening, Queens Memory Curator, J. Faye Yuan, will lead the audience through a moderated Q&A. Confirmed panelists include Sara Nodjoumi, an Iranian American film producer, director, educator, and festival programmer, Robin Margolis, an archivist and educator working in activist media, oral history, and community archives, with more to come. Join us to celebrate a new day and the arrival of spring with this special screening of “Radiograph of a Family” at the Hunters Point Library.
