Make a Memoir! A Hybrid Zine-Making, Collage & Storytelling Workshop

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will engage with Author-Illustrator and Teaching Artist, Jonell Joshua, to learn about her approach to writing and crafting her hybrid memoir and craft their own mini memoirs in zine-format.

Participants will have access to print and curate personal photographs from their phones on-site and also be invited to bring photographs from home to scan and re-print for collage!

We will have a printing/scanning station, and collage station with art supplies and scrapbooking materials for you to engage with a classic approach to personal storytelling.

Jonell will guide participants through the process of memoir development with memoir best practices, writing prompts to support your writing process, and a zine-making tutorial to kickstart participants’ ideas for how they will craft their own stories!

In the end, participants will engage in an intimate share-and-tell circle to share with other participants their crafted mini memoir. “
