Heat Stories: Memory, Place, and a Changing Climate
Join Queens Memory and partners from the Melting Metropolis project for an evening exploring how New Yorkers are documenting the local impacts of urban heat. Hear stories about neighborhoods adapting to longer, hotter summers, share your own experiences, and reflect on how everyday climate stories shape our collective memory.
The program begins with a tour of the boathouse, followed by a guided writing prompt and time to explore pop-up stations hosted by Melting Metropolis NYC partners, including Queens College, CUNY, Urban Archive, King Manor Museum, Newtown Creek Alliance, Citation Needed, and Lower East Side resident partners.
This event is part of a year-long public programming series with Columbia University’s Oral History MA Program.
Beverages and light bites will be served.
